‘The vest calms him down when things get too much for him and it helps to regulate stimuli.’
Jelle just turned 3 years old when we contacted Squease for the second time to try if he would fit a pressure vest. And yes! It fit!
‘He has a hard time processing sensory input’
Jelle is a very enthousiastic little boy who’s always looking for sensory input. However, he struggles to regulate this input and to keep himself under control. We think Jelle has autism and early on we noticed that he likes to have boundaries. Literal boundaries and limits, such as a weighted blanket. This calms him down and helps him sleep.
‘The vest calms him down when things get too much for him. It also helps to regulate stimuli’
When Jelle was 2 years old we started with a weighted vest, but it didn’t work well for him and he didn’t feel comfortable in it. We were still enthusiastic about Squease so we tried a pressure vest again when he turned 3 years old. Meanwhile we see that the vest calms him down when things get too much for him. It also helps to regulate stimuli.
‘He asks for the vest himself’
Jelle isn’t able to tell us how he feels about the vest, but he has asked for the vest several times. And what is better for a little boy to be able to inflate the vest yourself until it’s nice and tight, to then deeply sigh and to continue with your day a bit more relaxed.
